Check out this recent corporate event I did for @pwc_canada!

I arrived at 1:00 PM to load-in and set up my custom black DJ booth, large sound system, and 20-ft lighting truss with 4 moving spots and 2 high-powered lasers, in the Crystal Ballroom at the Empress.

At 5:00 PM, I walked down to Ship Point with my DJ controller and laptop, and hooked up to the sound system provided by @dl_sound to play music for Part 1 of the event, which included food and drinks by @truffles_catering; live performances by @jonnie5brass and @behindtherising; roaming photo booth by @fourframesphoto; and a 10 minute drone show (with 400 drones!) put on by @pixelskyanimations.

At 9:45 PM I quickly packed up my DJ controller and walked back to my setup at the Empress, and by 10:15 I was DJing the EPIC afterparty! 🎉

Party was over at 1:00 AM and I was packed up and loaded out by 2:45 AM and crawling into bed by 3:45 AM. Phew!

Check out this stunner of a wedding I DJ’d at a 300 acre farm, nestled in the Cowichan Valley, owned by the groom’s family. With a ceremony beside the water, dinner in an open field, and dancing in the barn, there was truly nothing left to be desired!

I provided a portable self-powered PA system with microphones for the ceremony, a PA speaker outside the barn for cocktail hour music, and another self-powered speaker and mic for dinner music and speeches in the field.

My DJ setup featured my custom white booth, white sound system, and uplighting in a warm candlelight white to highlight the beautifully rustic hand cut timber framing in the barn.

Here is a recent wedding reception I did at the @victoriagolfclub. No sit-down dinner; just cocktails, speeches, and party time! 🙌🏻

I had my DJ booth, sound system, and lighting in the bar / dance floor area, with a few uplights in the adjoining room, set to a nice warm white for people who wanted to chill out at the tables.

Here is a recent wedding reception I did at the @victoriagolfclub. No sit-down dinner; just cocktails, speeches, and party time! 🙌🏻

I had my DJ booth, sound system, and lighting in the bar / dance floor area, with a few uplights in the adjoining room, set to a nice warm white for people who wanted to chill out at the tables.

Okay so this was probably the hottest dance floor I’ve DJ’d so far this year! Like, it was probably 35°C but it was also an absolutely BUMPIN’ party! 🔥

For this wedding, I had my white DJ booth with a custom video loop created by a friend of the bride, my white sound system, and uplighting around the space. I also provided my acoustic guitar for a surprise musical performance by the groom’s father, during his speech.

Check out this elegant castle wedding I did at the beginning of July, with 170 guests! 🏰

Ceremony:
This took place in the lower croquet garden. I had my table set up at the side/back, with my speakers deployed 5-ft away from the front corners of the first row of chairs for optimal sound, while minimizing their appearance in photos. I put a high-quality omnidirectional mic on the officiant, which did an excellent job of picking up the sound of her voice, as well as the clients’. I also provided a handheld mic for the clients to use during their vows to each other, so that the officiant could step aside. AC power for my equipment was supplied by a silent Li-ion battery generator, which gives my ceremony setup enough juice for several hours.

Cocktails:
This took place on the castle terrace. I had two smaller self-powered PA speakers set up on flat-base dual speaker stand, to cover the narrower rectangular shape of the terrace for cocktail hour. Music was streamed from a mobile device with a preset playlist of the clients’ requests.

Reception:
This took place in the Quarterdeck Ballroom, which is a separate building from the castle. The head table and dance floor were in the middle of the room, with guest tables on either end, and my DJ booth in one corner. In order to provide adequate sound to the dance floor, I put my speakers on either side of the head table, and ran 70-ft of cabling along the wall to my DJ booth. I provided four moving-head lighting fixtures, split between two 8-ft. flat-base stands, on the opposite side of the dance floor, with a wireless lighting control connection due to the sheer distance between the lights and my DJ booth. I also provided my uplighting, focusing it on some of the decor around the dance floor.

It was an elegant wedding, a fun party at one of my favourite places (with the sweetest venue coordinators ever) and a definite highlight of the summer!

Here’s a recent wedding reception I did at Bear Mountain Resort, providing DJ services, sound and uplighting!

The room layout meant I would have two choices: Set up my speakers on either side of my DJ booth like I typically do, or run a bunch of extra cables and set them up on either side of the head table, which would deliver the best sound to the dance floor. The client and I discussed this ahead of time and they opted to have the speakers on either side of the head table for optimal sound. I brought my white sound system and not only did it sound fantastic; it looked good too.

For uplighting, I chose a lighter, less saturated green to match the sage green from the decor, and elevated the entire room. And of course those lights turn into little party boxes when the dancing starts!

After all the bigger events I’ve been doing lately, it was so refreshing to have something a little more intimate, and I am looking forward to being back at Sea Cider for another one later this summer.
